February 2007
the Most important time of the Year
We Knights can make a difference!
The parish has planned a full calendar of activities for this Holy Season and we knights are a big part of it. We are the men of the church and people look to us for leadership.
First, and foremost is our support of Father Norm during this high season by actively supporting all the Church programs. We Knights can make the difference with our families, by publicizing and attending Parish activities through Holy Week and throughout the year.
Beginning with our Super Sunday Breakfast and Parish gathering, the Pancake Breakfast for Mardi Gras Sunday, our Wednesday Parish Soup Nights and all the other activities planed by Father Norm. We should be there not only as workers but as participants and leaders.
We can make a difference.
Donald Gallagher
Grand Knight

On February 1st, Grand Knight Donald Gallagher presented the $846.69 Tootsie Roll money to the Principal of Lockerman Middle School. Some of the children and teachers were on hand for a group photo (above). The school was surprised and grateful for the money because they had no idea it was coming. After we had collected the $846 - we then decided who to give it to. The selection process for the money was to put all the names in a hat and draw one name.

This year our Tootsie Roll effort was driven by our newly arrived transfer knight, and his wife, Mickey and Mary Usilton (above). They were, almost single handedly, our Saint Joan of Arc Tootsie Roll Campaign. Mickey and Mary collected more then 80% of our money. They like nothing better then to get out in the public and meet new people; just what we need for our program for our special education kids. When you see Mickey and Mary, thank them for their tremendous effort for our special education program.
We are pleased to give this money to a school that serves so many of our community special education children.

Another Super Sunday and another Success!
The February 4th Super Sunday started out just about perfect and ended good or bad; depending on who you picked for the Super Bowl. But for our part it could not have been better. There was a huge crowd, enough food for everyone and some seconds, and another interesting program produced by our parish staff.
This was one of those days that makes us proud to be a Knight of Columbus. Our knights came out for the breakfast and stayed for the cleanup; what a dedicated bunch they are! The conversation in the kitchen (between the yells of more eggs or biscuits) ranged from global warming to football and the up-coming 4th degree. As I looked around the kitchen, almost everyone was, or will be a 4th degree knight.
Our future Super Sunday Breakfasts are:
Sunday, February 18, - Mardi Gras Fete - Pancakes & Sausage (free)
Sunday, March 4, - Super Sunday
Sunday, April 1, - Super Sunday
Sunday, May 6, - Super Sunday - 1st Communion Sunday
Our last breakfast of the year and may be our largest. We may have many visitors.

The Fifteen Promises of Mary to Those Who Recite the Rosary
Each month I will add a couple until all are in place. Many Catholics are un-aware of the Promises Mary made to the children at Fatima, and to the world.
