Grand Knight's Letter
Grand Knights letter
Wow we are into Lent already. What a great time to find a way to reconnect with our God and his Church. Please take time to do something to bring yourself closer to your Father, Son & Holy Spirit. Lent is one of the many wonderful things our church has, to give us ways of reconnecting and or drawing closer to Jesus and his people.
The Youth Ministry had its spaghetti dinner on the 25th of January. Thanks to all the Knights that came out to support them. A special thanks to our fellow Knight Tolbert Rowe. Who dished out the spaghetti and washed so many pots and pans that his hands were clean for a week. With Knights being apart of the Church community, it is great to see the Knights on the front line for being involved in the activities of our Parish. If you missed an activity it is never to late to start, there is another one just around the bend. “This is who we are. This is what we do. We give it our all. We want you to be a part of it” (from the front page of the Parish Bulletin).
Please don’t be like me and take 7 years to make your 3rd degree. Please contact Donny Gallagher to make your next degree. Take it from someone who realized that I was 7 years late in taking my next step in getting his next degree. Also it is well worth it to get your 4th degree. I am blessed to be apart of a group of men that make a difference in our world today.
We are getting closer to having our Oyster & Bull Roast. We have a date of April 12th (Saturday) time; TBA. I know with the past events that we have had, we can count on each one of us to make this a successful and fun event.
Our breakfast was another successful event. Thanks to all those Knights that stayed to the end to make sure that everything was cleaned up and put away.
May God Bless you & your Family and hold true to the Gospels’ of Jesus Christ’s Church.
Grand Knight

The Season Of Lent
February 2008
Knights of Columbus Family of the Month for February, 2008
David Pasciak & Ruth Doepkens
David & Ruth have been dating for almost four years. They are next door neighbors and work near each other. Dave is an Army Veteran, he was stationed in many places around the world and was also in Afghanistan for a year.
David served four years in the Army and he now works for the U.S. Government. An avid gamer, David has five pinball machines. They all like to read as you can tell by the books on the shelf behind them. David is a fan of the Buffalo Bills football team.
David has two children, Leo, who is 15, he likes to read and play computer games. He also holds the freshmen record in High School for weight lifting (squats) at 190lbs! He too is a fan of the Buffalo Bills. Ariel is 13 and likes to chat with her friends on the computer. She is also pretty good on roller blades.
Ruth also works for the U.S. Government. She has 3 horses and enjoys riding, they keep her busy outside. She also likes skiing, and enjoys doing anything outdoors.
Between the two households they have 5 cats and 2 dogs. All of them have been rescued from the animal shelter. Both Ruth and David moved here only a short time ago. They both like the slower pace here on the shore and feel this is a great place to live. They both also feel very welcomed in this parish.

Recruiting New Members and Advancement
Each year we attempt to grow with a few new dedicated knights to help share in the work we do locally and through out the world. We are famous for supporting our church, our Bishops and Priests and the Pope. Our goal is only 5 new men a year and so far this year we have enlisted 2 new members; we need 3 more men.
Our membership stands now at 72 members and we are striving for 75 this year. Our parish has many 'Good Catholic Men' who would join us if they were asked. Each of us has the responsibility to seek out these 'Good Catholic Men' and offer them the opportunity to be a member of the greatest Catholic Fraternity on earth, and we number more then 7 Million Men.
Each of us are required to attain the highest degree of professionalism we can reach. There are 4 degrees in our fraternity and each of them has a separate theme we learn about the Knights of Columbus. Each of us need to become at least a 3rd Degree Knight; and a 4th degree if you are invited.
Now, get out there and recruit those men who are missing out on our brotherhood!
The next Parish Super Sunday is March 2nd

An Irish Blessing (with a twist)
May the road rise
to meet you.
May the wind be
always at your back.
May the sun shine
warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft
upon your fields and,
when ye die may
ye be in heaven
a half hour before
the Devil knows ye'r dead.
Until we meet again,
may God hold you in
the palm of his hand.
