Happy New Year - 2007
We are on the second half of the Fraternal Year
We have four 'Super Sundays', the Mum's Flower Sale, the Parish Fall Bazaar, and the County Summer Fest fund raisers behind us. We have also enjoyed our fourth of July Family Picnic, the Installation of Officers Dinner and Our Christmas party together as Knights and Families since we began in July. The council has become closer, not only as knights working together on our programs, but as families and members of the parish working together for our Church and Catholic Community.
But, we're not done yet. Our yearly programs continue with more 'Super Sundays', a Spring Flower Vegetable and Fruit sale, the "Award winning Steak Night" and our programs supporting our parish youth programs.
Come out, together we can make a difference!

Christmas Party
The Saint Joan Christmas Party was a big success and some of our party goers received some Fabulous Gifts, hidden in the Scrolls on the Figure they were lucky enough to win.
The food from Susie's Kitchen was tasty and plentiful, as always, with the usual table full of deserts that always top off the evening. No one went home hungry and many left with some desert for the next couple of days.
Santa came to visit with the kids and some grownups; long enough to pass out a few special gifts and hear some special last minute requests for their list.
This year with a doubt, had the best program, it was the most attended and was enjoyed by young and old, alike. Our thanks to John Nussear who produced our Christmas Party, and then was too ill to attend the fun. Keep John and his family in your prayers for a speedy recovery.
We are looking forward to a bigger party next year!

$ Council Money $ DuesCouncil dues notices will be sent out the first of the year. This money is to support our council and a small portion goes to the State of Maryland and Supreme Council in New Haven, Connecticut for our global charities.
Did you know that when our Pope travels, the Supreme Knights of Columbus in New Haven, CT pay all his travel expenses? That his personal charities and donations are supported by us knights, to the amount of $6 - $7 million a year?
You can take pride in that!

Saint Joan of Arc Council Donates a Crucifix and Carved Wall Image of the Holy Family to the Parish Family Life Center.
It was mentioned several times among our members that our Family Life Center, the hub of most of our Parish Catholic activities did not have the one basic Catholic Symbol that identifies all our buildings, a Crucifix.
When we asked Father Norm if he thought it was appropriate to hang a Crucifix in the FLC he said, "of course. as long as I pick it out".
We also noticed, when we said the Rosary, there wasn't a Statue of Mary in the Chapel. We mentioned this also to Father Norm and he selected the appropriate Cross and a carved wood relief of our Holy Family to be placed in our FLC and the chapel. You can see the Crucifix when you enter the FLC on the wall across from the outside door.

This Sunday the program will be a discussion of the Gospels and the 10 Commandments.
We should all have a better understanding of these important precepts of our faith. For more information look here at our Parish Site.

The Children's Christmas Poster Contest
The “Keeping Christ in Christmas” Posters are all in and have been judged at the last meeting. I am waiting for the list of winners so we can post them on our site for all to see.
This program a very important part of who we are in our parish, and a great way to teach and recognize the children of the parish. Young minds will remember why we celebrate Christmas; it's not just about presents.
We had 25 - 30 posters this year, up from the 20 we had last year. Each child will receive a ceremonial $1.00 and the winners in each class will receive a Certificate of First Place.

The Fifteen Promises of Mary to Those Who Recite the Rosary
Each month I will add a couple until all are in place. Many Catholics are un-aware of the Promises Mary made to the children at Fatima, and to the world.
