May is Mary's Month - 2007
This is the time to renew our dedication to the Holy Mother and Jesus, her son. As Knights of Columbus we have sworn to promote the adoration of Mary and recite the Rosary. Is it a promise we take lightly?
Mary, like our natural mother has many instructions and rules for us as we grow. Mothers teach their children by instruction and buy example. They give us enough freedom to become our own selves and begin to carve our own place in the world; but, how much do we listen to their instructions?
This is the month we honor Mary and it should be the time we honor our own Mother for the path she started us down. For without her we would not be where we are now and have the future of eternal life as promised by our other Mother, Mary.

Election will be held at the June 6th meeting
It is time for some new ideas, new management and some re-focusing on our objectives and goals. At our June meeting we will elect the officers for next year. As a council we are very lucky to have so many qualified and dedicated members who are willing to take on the responsibility of office. The slate of officers proposed for 2007 - 2008 are:
Grand Knight - Chris Spinner
Deputy G. K. - Bill Nickum
Chancellor - Mike Musachio
Warden - Jack Doherty
Treasurer - Walt Scanlan
Recorder - Michael Porter
Advocate - John Lewis
Inside Guard - Daniel Tuel Jr.
Outside Guard - Dick Sade
3 year Trustee - Donny Gallagher
2 year Trustee - Fred Bradbury
1 year Trustee - Jeff Parenteau (elected)
Remember, this is just the proposed slate. If you are interested in an office nominations will be taken from the floor for all offices except 3 - 2 year Trustee; these are automatic for outgoing Grand Knights.
Please make a point of attending the meeting to vote for these officers and offer them your support.

$ Council Money $ Saint Joan's Mothers Day Flower Sale Saturday and Sunday May 12 - 13 we will have flowers and plants for sale after each Mass in support of our seminarian fund. Mike and Anne Musachio organize these sales of flowers, vegetables, fruit and plants 3 times a year to raise money for our future diocese Priest. Many thanks to the Woodside Florist for the flowers for our sale. They were kind enough to donate them to Saint Joan's Mother's Day Sale while Mike Musachio is recovering after his heart surgery. Father Norm made the call for us and Woodside provided our flowers for free. Saint Joan's member, Father John Gabage will be ordained May 19th Last year our flower and plant sales supported Deacon John Gabage who will be Ordained on May 19th in Wilmington. As a Knight of our Council we will be sending Father Gabage off with an appropriate gift for his investiture and the years he will dedicate to our Church and Savior. The Ridgely Strawberry Festival is May 27th. Funnel Cakes are in season again and our big presentation will be at the Ridgely Strawberry Festival. This year we will be back under our tree in the shade and we need to work as hard as we can to raise money for our new oven for the parish kitchen and our Summer Fest equipment. We plan on starting early making and selling our 'Funnel Cakes', and staying late to be sure all our customers are satisfied. This fundraiser is one we have fun with and we enjoy our dedicated customers. The Strawberry Festival this year will highlight our local veterans and they will have a prominent place in the parade and at the park. Everyone is encouraged to talk to our veterans about their service, listen to their stories and thank them for their patriotism.
