SB/SE PARISH
ADVENT LESSONS & CAROLS

This year, our parish musicians and lectors have prepared a program
of Advent Lessons & Carols for your enjoyment.  The tradition of the
festival of Advent Lessons and Carols dates to the late 19th century.

During the service, nine Scripture lessons are proclaimed which re-
count  the  Fall,  the  promise of  a  Messiah,  the  Incarnation,  and  the
Great Commission to preach the Good News.
by a carol or other song that reflects on the lesson's message and a
brief prayer.

Each lesson is followed

The program will be held in St. Benedict Church on Friday, December
15 and will begin with Prelude music at 6:00p.m.  After the program,
everyone is encouraged to come to the Parish Hall for fellowship and

refreshments.  Please bring a snack to share. (Snacks can be dropped
off in the Hall prior to the program).    The parish will provide bever-
ages.

Beloved in Christ,

in this season of Advent,
let it be our care and delight to prepare ourselves

to hear again the message of the Angels,
and in heart and mind to go even unto Bethlehem,

to see the Babe lying in a manger.
Let us read and mark in Holy Scripture
the tale of the loving purposes of God

from the first days of our disobedience
unto the glorious Redemption brought us by his holy Child;

and let us look forward to the yearly remembrance
of his birth with hymns and songs of praise.
