APRIL IS CHILD  ABUSE  PREVENTION   MONTH.
Did
was established by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
June, 2002?  It is a comprehensive set of procedures for addressing allegations of
abuse  of  minors.    The  Charter  for  the  Protection of Children and Young People
includes  guidelines  for  reconciliation,  healing,  accountability,  and  prevention  of
further  acts  of  abuse.    The  Charter  calls  for  annual  audits  of  dioceses  and
eparchies  to  ascertain  compliance  with  USCCB  guidelines.    Annual  Audits  have
been conducted since 2003.  Results of the audits are published online in May for
the public.

Human Trafficking happens here, but we can stop it!
Human  Trafficking  is  a  gross violation of human rights that hides behind the silence of
its victims. Sadly, our state is not immune from this grave injustice but, we can help! We
may feel that the enormity of this crime against humanity cannot be stopped by our own
small efforts, but even one life saved is a powerful change.

recently issued a statement to raise awareness about human trafficking and to urge all
Maryland’s  Catholics  to  attend  a  free  regional informational session called, “Proclaiming
Liberty to Captives” presented by the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force and local
experts  who  will  provide  effective  tools  for  combating  human  trafficking  in  our  local
communities.  Sessions  will  be  held  in  both  English  and  Spanish.

May,  inviting  people  of  all  faiths  to  pray  for  the  nation.  It  was  created  in  1952  by  a
joint   resolution   of   the  United  States  Congress,  and  signed  into  law  by  President
