Procedures for Sacristans

Arrive 30 minutes before mass.

Turn all lights on in the assembly, sanctuary and sacristy.

Get the key from the closet and unlock the sacristy cabinet.

In the cabinet is a round container that holds keys.

Locate the sound system key and unlock the sound system

and turn it on using the switch on the top left

and check to see that the system is on.

Locate tabernacle key and unlock the tabernacle;

check the ciborium in the tabernacle to see how many hosts are available.

Close the tabernacle and leave the key in the door.

Make sure the ministers sign in sheet is on the counter or shelf for ministers to sign in.

*** Stay in sacristy or gathering area until all ministers have signed in.

     10 minutes before mass, get replacements.

Prepare the credence table on the altar.

Sacramentary (Red Book)

Full Pitcher, basin and small towel

Small cruet of water

Chalice with purificator and corporal placed over.

      2 chalices with purificators rolled and placed inside cups.

Make sure music books are

1) on the deacon’s chair

2) on the sacristy counter for the priest

Prepare the gifts of bread and wine.

Fill flagon (pitcher) to the bend.

(If a bottle is emptied, put another in the refrigerator.)

Place hosts in the paten (plate).

 Amount should be around 130 for 5:30

200 for 8:30

175 for 11:15

We should be consecrating enough for the gathered assembly

however, if the ciborium is filled more than ½, plan to use some of them.

Place the flagon and paten on the appropriate table at the entrance of the church.
