Council Agenda
A. Approval Of February Minutes (No March Meeting)
* No additions, No corrections, Approved as written
B. Committee Highlights
Liturgy-
* Tour of Baltimore’s newly renovated Basilica planned
for May- June-July if there is enough interest
*Discussed pros and cons of healing gathering and mass
* May Crowning- May 6th- First Holy Communion as well
Parish and Family Life
*New Parish Directories were distributed at the April Super Sunday and will be distributed again
this weekend after all masses; great volunteer support for this project and the finished product
has been well-received
*Holy Thursday dinner and Easter Vigil reception were well attended
*Family Support & Educ – session on Catholic Stewardship/Finances is still on the radar;
researching the possibilities for doing an in-house presentation at some point in the near future
*Campus Ministry sent out Easter packages
*Springfest Dinner/Auction -
Saturday, June 2 – Auction/Dinner will begin at 6pm in the Family
Life Center. A mailing with details about Springfest will be sent out to all parish families
Confirmation Reception -
Sunday, June 10 after Confirmation (which is scheduled for 12:30pm
at St. Benedict)
Building and Grounds
*All is going well
* Meintzer Bros. gave an estimate for heating/cooling
one room- Cost is too high to deem it
worthy of
installing- We will look for stand alone units and see
how that may work.
* Our committee sat in on the Ad Hoc Committee for
planning.
Christian Formation
*A revised Home School Policy has been submitted to Father Carroll
*Cathechist Workshop was a success. Now we will look
into further sessions and creating a
directory of
resources.
* Discussed a vision for a new DRE
* Brainstormed Super Sunday Themes for next year.
Social Ministry
Habitat
* The Habitat breakfast is set for April 28th.* Yard
Sale will be April 21. With drop offs the week
prior.
St. Martin’s Ministries
* Collections will be for St. Martin’s Ministries this
month.
Special Projects
* Operation Rice Bowl has concluded. Boxes can be
dropped off at the back of the churches.
Samaritan House-United Concerned Christians
* May Collection will be for the Samaritan House
C. Finance Report-
* We are in Budget prep mode- April 25th- is the
budget meeting for all committee chairs.
*Annual Catholic Appeal- pledge week April 21st/22nd.
D. Old Business
* Picture Directory- We are getting them distributed-
They look fantastic!! Thanks to Paul
Fountain!!!! Pictures are also on disk so we can crop and use them
for various reasons
* The directory will have pictures and phone numbers.
We will also produce a parish phone book
that can be
updated yearly.
* Holy Cross Cemetery- We are still checking on
whether the wall can come down and improving
the
cemetery. As the weather gets nicer we can get out
there and work.
- SCRIPS- where prepaid gift cards are bought will
start closer to the new school year or holiday
buying
season.
E. New Business
*Ad Hoc Planning Committee met for the 2nd time- They
will present a summary of their findings
then we will
hire a firm to develop a plan.
-The plan includes looking to increase the size of 1worship space.
- Reality about Religious Educ. It will not be able
to be all on Sunday a.m.’s.
*While the Ad Hoc Committee continues their process, we will hold
onto the rental property for
now and not sell it.
*Nominations Committee was formed- Sandy Wood and Kate
Hartman will come up with possible
candidates and
elections will be held in May.
* Religious Education/Parish Staff
- DRE/CRE needs to be a resource to adults
–
What is missing- singles, young adult group and
adults after RCIA.
- Staffer must be a resource person, visionary,
teacher of teachers, liaison and creative with
education.
F. Pastors Report
* We will combine events to incorporate all who help
for a Parish celebration instead of having a
Springfest Family day and a volunteer picnic and a
council picnic.
* June Meeting will be an actual meeting
* The Diocese has asked for a profile of the church
family- We have 500 families -this past year
we have
had 24 baptisms and 10 deaths.
* Bill Nickum on May 1st will be appointed to stay
here another 5 years!!

* Chapter 9 of United States Catholic Catechism for
Adults- “The Holy Spirit” by Kate Hartman
