C. Finance Report-
* Year end gifts and special donations increased our

average
* We were $350 over budget for Christmas collection!
* The Finance council has talked about SCRIP and
wanted council input.
SCRIP is a program where non profit organizations can make profits by selling pre-purchased gift
cards from
area stores. For example, a company will sell us a
$50 gift card for $44. We sell the
gift card for its
face value of $50 and make a $6 profit. Each company
gives up to a 10% profit.
The church could either put out the money up front to
purchase gift cards or have an order form
for
parishioners to order them.
The council thought it was a good program!
D. Old Business
* Ad Hoc committee for Parish Planning- meetings have
been delayed due to illness.
Next meeting scheduled
for Jan. 31st
E. New Business
*Jeanne Wallace presented her summary of the United
States Catholic Catechism for Adults
Workshop. The
workshop was presented by Ed Gordon the Director of
Religious Ed for Diocese.
They discussed:
1. ways in which the book was being used- Parish
councils, committees, service groups, RCIA groups and
Young Adult groups.
2. Suggestions were made to skip around when studying
the book and to consider part IV
“prayer” of each
chapter prior to the theory part.
3. importance of understanding the format and
structure of each chapter
Jeanne’s take on the workshop:
We are not just adults learning, we are required to go
forth in mission and deepen our Baptismal
call to
mission. We need to link faith and life through our
own experiences. We need to be good
listeners and
include personal story telling.
The new “US Catholic Catechism” is written to help us
better understand our faith, inspire us, and help us go forth in that mission. It is a book to use!

tags!
* This weekend is the Diocese Ministries weekend in
O.C..- The ministries weekend is in the
thought
process of how to change it!
