A. Approval Of March Minutes

B. Committee Highlights
Liturgy-
* Father Norm mentioned experiment of mass times, for
the month of June there will be a 7:15 a.m. Sunday
mass at St. Benedict’s
* Planning a mission for 2007-
-possibly a Redemptorist priest
-Benediction each night of mission
* Beautiful Lenten/Easter season/Tridium
* Letter to Finance Council regarding a part time paid
music director position
* planning Formation Days for 2006-2007 for Liturgy
members-

- environment members
Parish and Family Life
*Budget
- Discussed support groups and their project budgets
for 2007
- Some groups saw tremendous increases and others
remained the
same
-Budget has been well maintained by all subcommittee
members
-Accounts were well outlined
- Youth Ministries paid income tripled due to activities
sponsored.
* Evaluated each committee under Parish and Family
Life- to be submitted this week.
- Jeanne gave a very detailed account of what was
apportioned and re-budgeted.
Building and Grounds

Christian Formation
*Home School Policy needs improvements before Pastor Ratification
* Super Sundays- a way to involve more people.  We
will ask each committee if they would like to sponsor
a Super Sunday for next year.
Social Ministries
General:
o
FY07 Budget - Final Budget has been reviewed and submitted.
Committee Reports.
Habitat:
* Habitat breakfast report - Made $300 at last breakfast, breakfast are
over for this spring and we are looking at if we will continue in the
fall
* Habitat Yard Sale report - Raised $1220, thanks to all who worked and
supported this effort.
* Habitat new homes in Federalsburg - Looking at a meeting with Talbot
Habitat for how they brought church's together to raise money.
Human Dignity
Supported Advocate Alerts with letters written to Maryland State
Legislators.
Samaritan House-United Concerned Christians  
Pat Bradley has volunteered to replace Linda and co-chair this activity
with Ann.
St. Martins Ministries
We will be collecting general food items.
Operation Rice Bowl
Initial results for Rice Bowl collection show we raised around $1300 as
a Parish.
Special Projects
Nothing to Report.
San Marcos Committee:
Best wishes notes from the Wed Soup and Bread sent to Diocese to take
to San Marcos with them in May.
Voice Of The Homeless:
o
Ditty Bags were completed, filled, and delivered to Rev. Cephus
for distribution at his shelters.
o
Voice of the Homeless meeting conducted on developing a shelter
in Caroline County.   The group was concerned about funds to complete
the mission of locating shelter for the homeless and Mr. Reep and Ms.
George informed the group not to worry about that item at this time;
but to first do our homework -- research for location, what kind of
shelter and what if any need for a shelter.
C. Finance Report-
* Budget meeting next Wednesday- all day; there are
benefits from Committee chairs attending the meeting.
* No one should feel trapped or burdened to pay for
things that the church budget can cover.
* Petty cash being increased in office
Budget Concerns: 1. energy costs  2. in need of accounting/budget
person on a part time basis- to take financial responsibilities away
from Lori whose dream is to reach people not be an accountant
Annual Catholic Appeal: Last week $2000 under goal, NOW $2600 over
Goal!!!!
The Startts Estate: the estate check has come in from the sale of the
home
- interest earned goes into ordinary budget where 11% goes to Diocese
- We’ll be thinking of ways to name investment so turn-over money stays
with parish.
D. Year End BBQ- June 14
*Lynn spinner to chair event
* Each Committee will take an item, dessert, appetizer
etc..

F. Pastors Report
* Stewardship campaign in lent didn’t happen
1. Decided to be upfront and honest with the
presentation of the budget
- a large part of the budget is handed to us-
insurance etc...
- This is what we decided to do with the money
2. Those who can increase GREAT!!
G. Parish Planning (Questionnaire that was asked for
by the diocese)
1. Describe the composition of your parish family
including educational level, economic level,
ethnic/racial background etc...

Diverse Population- encompasses all
2. What is the current major financial concern facing
the parish?
Growth factor- not able to anticipate this, we need
the people before we build
3. Briefly Describe the character of the parish
stressing one major strength and one major weakness.
Strengths discussed:
-lots of parish activities
-small enough to function as a family
-lots of hospitality going on
-good communication top to bottom
Weaknesses discussed:
-communication at times poor need top to bottom,
bottom to top and in and out communication
-small parish a lot of people wear many hats
-lots of community outreach outside- do we take care
of ourselves?
4. What is currently the most significant challenge to
parish and its resources
-space and parking
5. What was the most successful parish event last year
and why did the people come out?
-Springfest
-Mission
-Super Sundays
-***Dance- Multigenerational
(How do we define success?)
6. Is there any projected significant population
growth or decline over the next several years in the
parish?
-YES!!!  GROWTH
7. Do you anticipate any capital programs for new
facilities or improvements to existing facilities in
the next TWO years?
- No --but dream big!  Think outside the box of ways
to accommodate
8. What specific information would you feel necessary
that another priest/deacon understand and accept
before being assigned to the parish?
-lots of activity
-lots of enabling others- not dictating
-let the reins go so other feel their importance
- another mass is needed
-continue activities that meet many peoples needs
-we have an ecumenical factor- be sensitive to
families with 2 religions.
H. Summer Thoughts
- Rest/Relax but stay connected
-Be with family
-Be faithful to obligation to mass
-Simplicity
-7:15 a.m. Sunday Mass in June at St. Benedict’s-
trial if succeeds will continue in July
